Night Kayak on Bantry Bay

Join us for our Kayak at Night kayaking tour on Bantry Bay and experience the stillness and calm that befalls the world as the day changes from dusk to night as darkness descends over Bantry Bay.

As the moon rises and illuminates the night sky, the shadows of Whiddy Island, the Sheehy and Caha mountains and the Bantry shoreline will appear and a sense of calm unfolds across the bay.  While we become accustomed to our darker surroundings, this calmness will also evoke a sense of release for us as we escape the busyness of everyday life, let our thoughts go and just take it all in.

Our senses will be awakened to the smells and noises of the night as our kayaks move gently in the glassy water, barely making a noise as we paddle around the inner harbour.   While our night vision develops we will let our senses be filled with the sounds and smells of the sea as the lights of Bantry town emerge in the distance.  We will see the silhouettes of passing seabirds above us and listen to their calls as they prepare to roost for the night, while we adjust our eyes to take in all the stars.  We might be lucky to spot a shooting star or two as we relax in our kayaks and let them bob and sway in the stillness.  The darkness all around us lets us appreciate the millions of sparkles dotted in the night sky above us.  This is a mesmerising experience, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
